The highlight of my ramblings this week was Eupalinos Ugajin's installation at Two Fish 'Someday My Cow will Come'. I can't pretend I had the time to fully explore all the facets of this amazing build, but if you're looking for an hour or more of total immersion in another place this is a good place to start.
Eupa says ' one prim made (or found), attracting others, one idea leading to another, it became a sort of city.......a playground to test things.....'
and it has that feel, that you are on a journey of discovery, that any time you turn around you might find something new, something to make you smile, something you hadn't though of before.
There's also a feeling of deja vu a familiarity that's hard to pin down, until you realise, that like any city Eupa has included 'multiple intentions, multiple brains' by incorporating the work of many other SL artists into the build.
It's a work with many facets, interesting parts, excellent technical skills, and is sure to make you smile (even if just a little).
I also wandered over to the Orc cafe to see the work of Morlita Quan (below). This is a tiny venue and the works are a bit cramped and piled in. The display is outdoors and sometimes the vegetation is coming through the work. There's a lot here - probably too much for the space, but there's some inetersting pieces that subtly cross the divide between 2 and 3 dimensions. I wouldn't call it a must see exhibition, but Morlita is certainly an artist whose work I'll be watching.
My ramblings this week also took in the work of Nexuno Thespian whose build is beside mine at pirats in an exhibition that will open tomorrow. I'll write about Nex's amazing build at pirats later.
Today I had a look at what (must be?) his earlier work in 2D at Colore. I wasn't much interested in the imagery, although it's very nice, but the gallery itself (below) is a work of art worth seeing, if only to inspire others on how to show 2D work in an imaginative way.
I also visited Tornio Kohime Foundation where Nex has a 3D build 'Life Dance' - an interesting steam punkish, clockwork build that incorporates some of the elements of the pirats build, like the use of light and sound.
